Mastering Standard 5-Field Cron Expressions

Clear rules, special characters, and field positioning in Linux & Unix crontabs.

The 5 Standard Fields

Standard Linux cron uses 5 space-separated positions: Minute (0-59), Hour (0-23), Day of Month (1-31), Month (1-12), and Day of Week (0-7, where both 0 and 7 indicate Sunday).

Ranges, Lists & Steps

Use asterisks (*) for every unit, commas (,) for lists like 1,15, hyphens (-) for continuous ranges like 1-5, and forward slashes (/) for intervals like */15 (every 15 minutes).

Upcoming Run Verification

Never guess when your automated server cron job will trigger. PicoFix simulates cron schedules and calculates the next 5 exact timestamps in both your local time and UTC.
